GUIDELINES ON EXHIBITION
DRAFT REDFERN CENTRE URBAN DESIGN PRINCIPLES
You are invited to comment on the Draft Redfern Centre Urban Design Principles and can be downloaded in 4 parts. Click part 1 (Cover Page) and part 2 (Contents), part 3 (Guidelines) and part 4 (Guidelines).
The Draft Redfern Centre Urban Design Principles (links to UDP pdf attached again) have been prepared in accordance with Clause 22 Part 5 (Redfern-Waterloo Authority sites), Schedule 3 of the State Environmental Planning Policy (Major Development).
Clause 22 of the SEPP requires that development on RWA sites exhibits design excellence. Clause 22 also provides for the preparation of a guideline, which details matters to be addressed to achieve design excellence. The Draft Redfern Urban Design Principles have been prepared in consultation with the RWA Built Environment Ministerial Advisory Committee for this purpose. The final principles will be subject to approval by the Minister for Planning.
The final principles will assist the RWA and Department of Planning in the assessment of applications under Part 4 and Part 3A of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, including the preparation of Director General Environmental Assessment Requirements.
The Draft Redfern Centre Urban Design Principles:
- Provide further guidance on design issues that development within the Redfern Centre need to address to achieve design excellence;
- Identify landmark sites within Redfern Centre that may benefit from a design competition process;
- Establish the Director General Design Excellence Guidelines as the basis for the conduct of any design competitions within the Redfern Centre; and
- Were developed in consultation with the Redfern -Waterloo Built Environment Ministerial Advisory Committee and community representatives.

- Redfern - Waterloo Authority offices, Level 11, Tower 2, 1 Lawson Square Redfern, Monday to Friday: 9am to 5pm
- Redfern Neighbourhood Service Centre, 158 Redfern Street, Redfern, Monday to Friday: 9am to 5pm, Saturday: 9am to 12pm

PLANS ON EXHIBITION
DRAFT AMENDMENTS TO RWA CONTRIBUTIONS PLAN 2006
You are invited to comment on the draft amendments to the Redfern-Waterloo Authority (RWA) Contributions Plan 2006.
The RWA Contributions Plan 2006 was adopted by the Minister for Redfern-Waterloo on 2 May 2007 and came into effect on 16 May 2007.
The Contributions Plan enables the Minister for Planning, when granting consent to development, to impose a condition of consent requiring the payment of a development levy, for the provision of public facilities and amenities within the RWA’s Operational Area.
The Draft Amendments To The RWA Contribution Plan provide:
- modifications required as a consequence of changes to the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979;
- further information on the application of planning agreements and material public benefit arrangements; and
- an amended Works Schedule.
The draft amendments to the RWA Contributions Plan have been prepared in accordance with Section 31 and 32 of the Redfern-Waterloo Authority Act 2004, the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulations 2000.
The draft RWA Contributions Plan is on public exhibition from 16 December to 12 February 2010 at the:
- Redfern - Waterloo Authority offices, Level 11, Tower 2, 1 Lawson Square Redfern, Monday to Friday: 9am to 5pm
- Redfern Neighbourhood Service Centre, 158 Redfern Street, Redfern, Monday to Friday: 9am to 5pm, Saturday: 9am to 12pm
